Trimming?

My dogs will be going to the groomers for the first time. Both of my angels will get a bath and their toenails clipped. But Veda will also be getting a trimming. She has unsightly hair hanging from her belly that should be trimmed or shaved. Does this seem like a good idea?

From what I know, Paps are a pretty natural breed that shouldn't be trimmed. But, I am guessing yours is a pet. Not really sure how it will look, but hopefully the groomer will know what he/she is doing!

I don't see why not.
I keep my dogs in a 'sanitary' trim because they both have long hair. Neither are breeds that need much trimming but I always keep the hair around their butts and their bellies clipped. (just around their privates, I don't ever clip the hair on their chests) It looks neater, and they don't get messy when they go to the bathroom. A sanitary trim won't be noticeable at all, if it's done right.

Jesse (long coat Chihuahua) also gets a trim around his butt and privates. I think it's a good idea for any long coated breed and like Rip's Girl said...if it's done right you shouldn't be able to notice it (well...I guess you'll notice it because you know it's been done, but no one else should LOL).

Cass.

I keep the two Yorkies shaved under their arms, belly, rectom and vulva. It isn't a bit noticable. Reasons........sanitary and keeping the little matts off.

Thank you! But just so you guys know, I wasn't talking about a papillon. I just WANT a papillon, I don't have one. I was talking about my longhaired dachshund mix. Sorry for any confusion.
