I use Dr. Bonners 100% pure castile liquid soap in a peppermint to repel fleas. It's very concentrated so you use only a squirt to about 16 oz. of water. It suds up and rinses quickly.

Oh, it's Bronner's, and they have a web site if you just go to Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soap. It's a great product, mild enough for new born babies, and doesn't dry the hair or skin/scalp.

Also if you really want to make the shampoo then this site gives you a nice recipe: http://www.abigslice.com/shampup.html

Calgal thanks so much for your help/I think tomorrow I will pick up some of the Baby mild unscented or the lavender and add tea tree.TT smells so bad to me but its a great oil. Using tt sparingly its not so bad I bet you could add aloe juice to it too... oh there are so many combinations you can come up with..My poor brain is actually ticking away with ideas now. Calendula for skin, neem for parasites like fleas,oh oh oh,I am so excited...Thanks calgal for leading me to my base. Your a gem..

Doesn't TT do the trick for fleas & ticks? My Mom & I use it on our dogs & they never really had a problem. My Boss is an herblist & we use that at work for flea dips & hot spots.

I use baby shampoo on mine, and then some aloe for her skin. I aslo use a gentle skin conditioner (non toxic) drowned in water for her fur. Just get a bucket and put a small amount in the bottom and fill with warm water. Make sure it won't hurt her though (most likely would be gentle baby shampoo)

Another suggestion is don't use scented stuff. My 3 hate scented and it maskes their smell, which they need to identify others. Scented also usually causes skin irritation and agrivates allergies.
