Question Best Clippers?

I'm going to start grooming Emma myself soon. I was wondering what clippers are the best to buy. I've been told the AGC-2 clippers ( Super 2 Speed Model AGC 2)by Andis are really good. But someone told me there has been problems with the bearings burning out. I was told Wahl KM2 clippers were also good. I read that Oster clippers get really hot and blow hair everywhere. So any information would be great. I just want to buy something that's going to last.

ive been using the Andis Ultra Edge 2 speed version and so far I am very happy with them. Ive been using them since last May an average of 5 to 6 times a day. Ive replaced so far a cord (my fault for wrapping it too tight), a switch blade, and the blade drive. The blade drive is supposed to be replaced every three to six months. For this model the switch blade tends to break alot. My manager uses the AGC-2 clippers (not the ultra edge) and she has NO problems with it besides regular maintenance. However these clippers to not have a blade release so you kind of have to POP the blade off the clippers. On my clippers I just push the button and remove the blade easily.

We use these clippers five times a week 5 or 6 times a day (sometimes a less) so if you buy these clippers for use once every four to six weeks they will last you a LONG time. In my opinion they are the best.

I personally do not like the Oster clippers. Wahl clippers are commonly used on horses so they are supposedly made to last. My friend just bought some and she loves them. I cannot get used to how you turn it on!

hope that helps!

Re: Best Clippers

I've been in the pet grooming field for a pretty long time now and have tried almost every clipper out there. Andis AGC superspeed2 is one of the pairs I use frequently, they do have a lot of problems though. Wahl is pretty tough and the New Switchblade is pricey but a really great addition to my equipment, Laube clippers are lightweight but malfunction regularly. It's pretty much up to you and which one fits your needs

back in the day when I went to grooming school and tried it I had a pair of Osters A5, they did get hot but I had boot for that so it wasn't a problem. At the time I bought them, almost 30 years ago, they were the best on the market. My grooming career lasted less than a year, it just disgusted me how people let their dogs get so icky. But I still have those clippers today, and used them for many many years on my own cocker spanials and friends dogs that I would do for free.
I like the easy clip on blades and replacement blades are easy to find.
