My opinion - I wouldn't clip the whiskers but would and do clip ear hair.

As a side note, if you have to clean your dog's ears a couple of times a day because of gunk in them, you may want to have them looked at. It isn't typical to have to clean ears that frequently.

I agree, if he has so much gunk that he needs those ears cleaned twice a day he really should be checked by your vet. That much yuck in the ears is usually a sign of mite or other issue.

Clipping the hair in his ears and clipping his whiskers isn't going to hurt him any although it does interfere with his ability to hunt and play. Dog whiskers are much like that of a cat, their used to sense vibrations and air currents. My bullies do get their whiskers clipped for shows but are allowed to grow back when their not active in the ring.

I would not clip the whiskers. If there is a bunch of gunk in his ears--so much that you can't take a paper towel and wipe it off--clip it.

Dog whiskers are not like cat whiskers. Most all poodles and some other breeds have their faces shaved often with no ill effect. As a groomer I was taught to clip the whiskers for a neater apperance.

I pluck Cozy's ear hairs with my fingers. She doesn't need it done very often. I don't think I would cut the hair inside the ears. It would fall down into the ear. Or are you talking about the hair on the ear flap?

I always try to keep Duke's ears trimmed. They are so darn fuzzy! I've trimmed his whiskers every now and then. Once you trim them you get use to the "freshly shaven" look.
