Question What brand of dog toothpaste is good and safe?

What is a safe and good brand of toothpaste for dogs? Is one better than another one or they are all the same?

Nothing from China please -- they need to put their act together for very long time before I can trust any products from them again.

I have never brushed my dogs teeth. LOL Never used any toothpaste so I really can't say what brands I think are good or not.

I just give raw meaty bones for them to munch on, rawhide here and there and rub their teeth/gums with gauze once in a while. And I've never had a dog have tartar build-up or bad teeth.

I read that toothpaste has artificial sweetner in it, which isn't good for dogs (I know, quite ironic in a way). I would go with BB's suggetion of raw bones. We feed Harley and Abby bones every week and they have always had lovely teeth, free of tartar, as noted by our vet.

Do bully sticks work? Niki cannot have bones with fat on it because we do not know yet what is wrong with her and she is very sensitive -- vomits or gets diarrea almost with anything.

I also do not brush, raw bones for Kuchi. I understand about you're not sure what's going on with her so I would wait until her tummy settles. They should have pet toothpaste at most big pet supply stores. After you figure out what's going on, you can feed her chicken wings, they won't be as fatty as beef marrow, then try the marrow ones very slowly if you want. I'm honestly too lazy to brush...

Yes, I have seen dog toothpastes, but I am a little afraid to use them -- so many things end up to be unsafe for dogs.

Do you buy marrow bones from the human grocery store, or petstores carry them also?

I go to my local butcher. It'll be cheaper most likely since its trash to them. I get about 1lb for $1, the best stores will most likely charge by the bone, $3-$5.

I use the C.E.T. toothepaste from my vet. Its about $14.00 a tube but comes with a new brush. I dont brush too often, I also feed raw bones, as well as other chews. So keiras teeth are nice and white!! vet was surprised at annual, she turned two in october and still does not have a bit of tartar!!

If you choose raw bones, *make sure* you get knuckle bones. They're huge, but that's what you want. If the dog can fit the bone in it's mouth and chomp down, it can break a tooth.

I use a couple brands of toothpaste, but they're DOG toothpaste. Beef and chicken flavored. Mia had to be anesthetized to remove a fatty tumor and I told the vet to clean her teeth while she was out if they needed it and they didn't. She's 6. I also use bones.
