rough nose
Tiva's nose is a lil rough and bumpy I have used mineral oil, caniola oil, is there anything else I could use to make it look normal like my other dogs? I don't know why it is like that, I thought maybe because she ploughs thro the dirt with her nose to eat dirt and grass roots.... Yup she is weird
I only did it for a couple of weeks, should I maybe do it longer then that? |

Great I'll have to go get some... Do you get that at a pet store or can I just get it at a drug or grocery store? If she licks it it won't harm her in anyway? Her nose does look awful, she is the only one like that
![]() Just can't keep her nose out of stuff, she would probably make a good Truffle dog lol ![]() |

Have you considered a muzzle while she's outside? Just a thought. My Zada roots down in the grass as well looking for bugs. If it starts drying her nose out to the point it gets too dry or cracked, I will muzzle her at the times she's in the grass.

The Bag Balm won't hurt her at all if she licks it and if she is anything like my bullies she'll be licking at it for a good ten minutes. lol Bag balm is something often used for milking cows to keep their udders from drying out and cracking. |

Thanks again, I'll have to get some this weekend
![]() Nope I would never muzzle Tiva, she would prob hurt her nose just trying to get it off and she would be so stressed out from it. If I tell her to stop she will until I turn my back, just like a kid lol She has such a flat face too... |

I don't think I'd use a muzzle for something like that. I'd rather teach them to NOT do it, than to muzzle.
I've been using vaseline on my pugs' noses.. they seem to dry out on our long walks. I keep meaning to get bag balm ~ I keep forgetting when I'm at the store. |

Actually, the rooting around they do with their nose tends to help keep in smooth but things like sun, wind burn and rooting in really rough terrain can cause it to really dry out and even crack.
I don't think the victorian collar would be a good idea, dogs are so miserable when they have those on, can't see around and they can't even scratch their ears. I wouldn't want to wear one outside.Ever notice ( I know mine get it ) how the nose tends to sometimes get really bumby and rough? Seems to happen more to the smooshie faced babies....I think since they can't totally get that nose filed down when rooting. lol jmo |
