New Dremel Tool For Pets Nails
Dremel has put out a special kit/dremel for use when doing pet's nails. It runs around $30, and includes a how to and the sanding bits needed. It is also battery powered which is nice.

My dad has a dremel I have been using, but the whinnig noise it makes freaks Shelby out a little so I figured this would work better. Plus I am going to be a little to far away to use his regularly when I return to school.

Cooper at first pooped his pants at the loud noise, but in my house, momma says, doggy does!!! There was no choice in the matter, a couple happy songs and a zillion cookies later, neither of my goofballs have issues with the real dremel, and I dont have to create bloody waterfalls with rexies nails
![]() Rexie is actually quite fascinated with the dremel, its amusing to watch her expressions as I pamper her paws. |

Ours freaked out at the original Dremel we had (one speed 35,000 RPM, sounds like a 747 taking off), and can't say I blame them. They do better with the multispeed models now. We just got the new 8000 model with the Lithium Ion battery that has as much power as a corded Dremel. It's AWESOME!! "More power!! Arugh!!" (reminiscing about the show Home Improvement) The Corgis have extremely thick nails for such little dogs (thicker than Avalanche), so it takes forever if you can't up the speed on the dremel.
Gotta love the Dremel for the "puppicures" ![]() |

I desperately want a dremel to use on Jesse's nails (which are a pain in the big fat bum to trim!). I wonder if we can get them down here. Hope they're not too expensive.

I have something very similar that I ordered from Drs. Foster & Smith. It was $50, BUT they have a %100 money back guarantee. If you use it and dont like it, return it for a refund. Shaker busted a nail off last year, horrible experience. She was bleeding profusely and whining like you wouldnt believe. We had to rush her to a vet on Saturday, our vet had NO oncall service that day, so we had to take her to a different vet we had never been to. They had to knock her out, cut it all the way down to nothing, and bandage it. To make a long story short, we couldnt get near her with the clippers after that. I ordered the kit and it was the best $50 I ever spent! Not only does she let us cut them down, you can get all the to the quick without cutting in to it or hurting them!

See that's what I need. Something I can use all the way down to the quick. Jesse freaks out because of the pressure of the clippers on his claws, no matter how fast I snip 'em. It scares me too.
Ok...so *adds to her shopping list* "Buy a dremel! A pet one if available". ![]() Cass. |

Cass - you can order it online so with a little extra for shipping I bet you could find someone willing to send it.

Cass-
I dont know if Foster & Smith ship to Australia or not, but if they do, I would say you should order from them. That way if you dog doesnt like, you can send it back for a refund, minus s&h. They are very good about that. I've had to send things back before and they never give me a problem. |

Cass,
The model I was talking about was $70 US at Home Depot. You can find them online as well. I would defintely find someplace like what Bullylover is talking about. I also love Foster & Smith, just never bought nail accessories from them. |

I got a Dremel that was about $10 more than the pet model, but comes with tons of different tool attachments, is pretty high-speed, and isn't deafening. I was always told not to keep the file on the nail too long because it heats fast, but I've never found that to be the case with the one I have. |
