I always envision the desert being a HOT place. I live in New England, Mass. and I'm wondering myself if it would be a good idea to get my 6 month old pup some doggy boots to protect his feet from salt and ice. I walk all winter in freezing cold weather so I want to protect him. I'm not sure if he will need a coat
he is a cattle dog with a not to short but not to thick coat. Maybe it would be a good idea to invest in this stuff? What do you think? ![]() |

We keep the outdoor activities to a minimum when it's bitter out.. they have jackets when we go for walks. Where are you? I lived in the desert in so. nevada.. we got chilly but nothing too bad. Here right now, its DUMPING snow, we could have 8 inches by tomorrow they say. Niiiiiice LOL Sure looks pretty coming down though!
Edit to say I think they have something called Musher's Secret for paw pads.. someone correct me if I am wrong... |

I live in New York and I put sweaters in the real cold on my two cockers and they wear Mutt Luck boots for outdoors in the winter. I have found them to be the best cause they are flexible with the dogs feet.

Your dog is a lab (I'm assuming) and you live in AZ? I think he's ok.
Labs have short hair but LOTs of it.Where I live it gets down to -30 and my dogs (a bc and an aussie) are quite fine as long as we keep moving. I might do muttlucks to protect their paws from the rough snow and ice but I doubt it. |

Sorry but I had to chuckle about the 'cold' in AZ!!
Like Sammy, I'm in western Canada but not far enough west to get the nice BC weather. Our Brittany loves being outside even at -40 (when it gets that cold we have to tie him up to keep him in) I'm sure your lab will be fine in the winter outside. If his paws seem to get tender because of the cold you might want to invest in some booties but I'm betting you won't need them. |
