Fatty tumor or cyst??
Cassy, our ESS, has a lump on her chest - it's about the size of a walnut, but it is real soft and wiggles around. I can't take her to the vet today (Sunday), but will tomorrow. She shows no signs of anything except her usual active Attention-deficit behavior (which today, I'm happy about!!). I didn't want her to have any fatty cysts. She is about 2-years old.

have the vet check it and make sure it *is* just a fat deposit and not something else. they can be removed surgically if it bothers you.

Fatty cysts are harmless as you know but it is always good to make sure thats what it is.
I have been told that some dry foods like goodo's can cause these to occur. My eldest dog Emma has had one on her chest since she was a baby and its still the same size 18 years later ![]() |

We're off to the vet this afternoon at 3:15. Yogurt, our other springer who passed on in July of this year, had a fatty (well, several) tumors. (but she was fat!) We feed Cassy Nutro lamb & rice. It seems that this one just appeared in the last few days. I'll keep you posted.

I'm sooo happy and sooo relieved!! The vet said it was so soft, and so she took out a sample of the fluid - it was a pus pocket - Cassy had probably bumped something (it was a fallen tree with a branch stub that she hit when she was running in the canal (dry) last week!) I remember her crying out once, but couldn't see anything and then she acted like she was okay. The vet said that it should go away in a few days! If it doesn't, we need to go back. But even today before the vet visit, it had gone down from yesterday.

Glad to hear it wasn't anything major. Im actually going through the same worries right now b/c last night I felt a little bump on Reggie. I was just petting him last night and felt this lump so I thought it was his skin bunched up, so I felt it again and sure enough it was a pink little lump!! It freaked me out.
I dont know how long it's been there, but he's been acting perfectly normal though. He hasn't been itching there or anything.... my husband said it's possible that it's from hitting himself on the couch or something... but since I dont know if or how dogs bruise, Im worried so Im calling my vet today and hopefully have him checked out. ![]() |

Keep us posted! I don't like lumps very well! And so true, we don't know exactly how long one has been there, that's the scary part! Should we be checking once a week, or once a day, or once a month??
