Breathing Problems?

My eight year old dachshund mix seems to have breathing problems. This has been happening ever since we adopted her, but I only just started worrying about it. Whenever you pick her up or move her around too much she starts to breathe hard. This also happens after excercise. Is there any thing wrong? Should I take her to the vet? Also, her teeth seem a little rotten! I noticed that sometimes she has difficulty crunching her kibble. How can I correct these problems?

Could be she is nervous. When it has to do with breathing issues though it is always best to ask a vet, especially in an older dog that you don't know all the history on.

Okay, thank you. I edited my post above yours, this same dog also has rotten teeth! I think her previous owner fed her nothing but table scraps.

You need to take the dog in to the vet and have a dental cleaning. After that you need to be proactive and brush your dogs teeth everyday. If she has difficulty chewing kibble you can always switch to a good brand of wet food.
