Broken Tooth

OK, so I was just looking at Wesley's mouth and then I saw that he has a broken tooth! It is his front upper tooth and the top of it is almost completely gone! What can I do? I want to just rush him to the vet as soon as possible but my family says that it will cost a few hundred dollars for them to be able to do anything... But I was reading about canine broken teeth on another website and it said how if not treated it will lead to infection, which then can lead to liver, kidney, and heart problems. Ok, I have already lost one dog from kidney failure, I DEFINATELY do not want to have it happen agian! What can I do? He seems fine, but I was also reading about how all dogs seem fine when they have broken teeth even though they are suffering quietly. I don't want my baby in pain. What should I do???

It depends on how bad the break is. Many dogs have broken teeth and live long healthy lives.
Is it broken, or is it chipped??

I would certainly have it checked by a vet. The worst that could happen is that they will have to pull the tooth. I don't know how much that would cost in your area but I had to have a tooth pulled on my poodle and the vet pulled it while she was asleep being spayed and didn't even charge anything extra for the tooth extraction. I think that the biggest expense is that the poor baby will have to be asleep to do it. Good luck!

Novel, I'm not sure but I think its broken because I can see a tiny little dot of pink in the middle (which I think is his gum, not sure though)...

Pearlulm, Really? So, maybe it is not as hard to pull the tooth as I thought it would be...I will try to convince my parents to take him in in the morning

Thanks for the help!

The dot in the middle you are seeing is the dentin.

That is the inroad for the infection.

It needs to be seen by a pro.
