Bentley

Before I give my vet another call, I thought I'd see if anyone has any suggestions. Due to Bentley having two different types of crystals, the vet wanted him on the s/d food for a month, then when we check again, if the crystals are going away, to switch him to the c/d food. Anyhow, I think it's been a week and a half or so of this new food, and he is now very itchy on the insides of his hind legs. He USED to be itchy like this, but once I started feeding the chicken soup food last spring, he got much better. Now we're right back where we started. He doesn't look different, he just keeps wanting to lick the insides of his hind legs.

Any ideas? I have to watch what I give him, I want these crystals cleared up, but I don't want him miserable with itchy skin in the process. Looks like I'll be going back to the vet, but am wondering if anyone has any ideas for suggestions or questions that I should be asking him (the vet).

Sounds like an allergy issue with the food, the crystals obviously are a bigger concern at this point and honestly I'd be more apt to continue with the current food / treat for the crystals and deal with the allergy issue via benadryl since it doesn't sound too aweful at this point. I'd call the vet and see what he wants to do but I'm guessing this would be the call. jmo

Very true, Sonja.. I'd figured I'd be stuck with this s/d food, at least for another couple weeks, but I thought I'd ask. I'll be calling the vet, but you're probably right.. benadryl. The itching isn't awful enough that he's hurting himself, but the poor guy is odviously unhappy with it. First thing this morning, lick, scratch, lick, scratch.

Oh no, poor Bentley.

Hope he doesn't have to be on that food for long, he sounds very uncomfortable.
