So tonight after we ate dinner my little girl got a hold of some Febreeze and sprayed it at Cai's face thinking it was the water bottle I use when I iron
. It's my fault that I left it out in the first place, but I usually let her play with the spray water bottle in the tub when she takes a bath. Poor kid started crying first cuz I yelled at her and second cuz I told her that Cai could get real sick and have to go to the hospital. Anyways, I called the vet immediately after I flushed his eyes out with water. The vet told me to get some sterile saline eye wash and flush his eyes out every hour. I also gave him a bath and washed him to get the febreeze off his fur. I was so upset and scared that she did that to my boy as well as my daughter was very upset crying . The vet said that febreeze is mainly made up of water and that he should be okay because of the fast actions I took in flushing his eyes. Though the whites of his eyes are red besides that he is fine. If his eyes are still real red tomorrow then I will bring him into the vet. Also, I made the mistake of googling febreeze and pets and found some info that it is really harmful to pets and can even be deadly. They use an ingredient in it that is similar to anti-freeze. Why do they always say on the commercials that it is safe around pets and even show a woman spraying a dogs bed with it . Anyways, I hope my boy will be okay, he should be his mommy is taking very good care of him . My little girl feels bad to she has been laying with him on the floor and must have said sorry to him 100 times. She really didn't mean it, if she could of read the label she would have known it wasn't water but she is only 4 years old. There is never a dull moment! ![]() |

I heard something about that anti-freeze ingredient. I heard that the amount they use is soooooooo small that someone would have to ingest like a gallon of it or something for it to do any harm.
Glad to hear your babies are alright! What an exciting evening! lol |

Awwww....I feel sorry for your daughter, she must be gutted that she's hurt her dog. Poor pup must be uncomfortable too. I hope everything turns out ok and it's nothing more than a little irritation for a short while.

Aww, both the babies just had a really bad day didn't they!
![]() If it was ingested in a fairly decent amount then I'd be worried but just the spray to the face shouldn't be too much of an issue. Glad you started flushing the eyes right away though or you could have had some serious issues there. Hopefully his eyes will be all cleared up tomorrow. ![]() |

Its amazing how fast little ones can be at getting something they shouldnt have.
I am sure your dog will be fine but I can imagine your distress and your daughters as she wouldnt mean to hurt him. How are his eyes today? |

His eyes and him altogether are fine, no more red eyes
. I was flushing his eyes every hour for about 6 hours straight, I was up after midnight taking care of him. My daughter is fine too, she feels really bad and keeps hugging and kissing Cai . Afterall she did think that all spray bottles have water in them cuz that is what she plays with in the bath tub, poor kid, I really yelled at her too cuz I was so scared about my boys eyes. Not even two minutes I turned around and it happened. Stupid me for leaving it in her reach to begin with. |
