Doberman grow chart

Hi,

I have a Doberman, male. Now he's in his early 14th weeks and his weight is 28.5lbs this morning.

It's my first dobe and I don't know if his weight is a little bit low.

Opinions ?
Thanks.

Much depends on the pups frame rather than just being breed specific. Your best bet is to ask your veterinarian if he or she thinks the pup is at a proper weight for it's size.

My vet always told me that I want to keep my doberman pup on the skinny side as it's easier on joints and hips and such. Not that that answers your question, it's just my 2 cents. I was always looking for some kind of growth chart too, but never found one. I would just like to know what percentile she's in for weight and height. Kinda like the doctors tell you for your kids.

If you can feel his ribs when you run your hands along his sides, that's good. They shouldn't show, save for maybe when he's turning his body in an arch. If you're in doubt, check with your vet. I always took my Dobe to get weighed and have a cookie about once a week to the vet's....just to socialize him and learn that the vet's office was a great place to go for attention, treats and weighing wasn't a big deal. Sometimes, if the vet wasn't busy, he'd come out into the waiting room and visit and tell me what he thought. So that's an idea. You can't go by breed. They are all individuals. My Dobe has a lot of bone and is a little on the tall side, so naturally, his weight is going to be more than a smaller framed dog. Boys and girls are different etc. So, stop by your vets and see what he thinks.
