Help! Claw has separated from the root.

I have a rescued Yorkie (get up to speed from the journal).
Her nails were very long and neglegted and I have been trimming them down about 3 times a week, but there was one I was worried B/C it is very very LONG!! But I have been trimming it down, but just a few minutes ago it separated from the root. It started to bleed pretty bad. I got the bleeding to stop and I got her comfortable. Of all nights my vet is not available for emergencies. I can call someone else if I need to. Should I pull it if it is just hanging by the skin..or what. Can I give her a very small drop of children's Tylenol. (which now that I think about it that prolly wouldn't work) I don't know has this happened to anyone?
Help

MrsGrubby is absolutely right, aspririn only, and I use children's aspirin for my big dogs, so I would be VERY careful about the correct dosage for aYorkie, perhaps the vet can answer over the phone.

About Sept, I posted a thread very similar, when Alley caught her toenail and it broke off. At that time I clipped it so that it was removed entirely, and because there was very little bleeding, Ijust let it heal on its own.

Others that shared at that time had to make a vet visit...

Let me see if I can find that thread...

When Delsi had eye surgery, the Vet. said I could give her 1/4 baby asprin every 4 hours. She was 5 lbs.
I wouldn't mess with the nail. I'd try and wrap it till the Vet. can take a look. Poor little thing. Glad she has a loving home now and can get all fixed up.

I took macey to the vet yesterday. She had some lydacane(sp)
shots and antibiotic shot, and then they just clipped it back as far as they could. She is all wrapped up right now. I didn't mess with any medicines. I just made her comfortable until we could get the shots. She is doing much better now and doesn't even pull at her bandage.

~ My litte 2 year old just cried when macey hurt herself. It was so sad.
He went to the vet with me to get her fixed up and I think that made him feel better.

Thanks all soooooo much. Macey has surgeries next week. I will update here or on my journal for that. Plus she will start her vaccinations soon as well. They said she is in lot better shape now to handle the vaccinations.

I'm glad that your 2yr old was able to see her feel better. That really is very important, isn't it?

Glad Macey is all ship shape too! Those nails can be something awful!
