can you ever be to careful

with your dogs health, since i was told by my vet that large breed dogs and not just breed specific dogs are prone to hip problems i've been giving all dogs over a yr old glucosimine tablets based on their weight, think i am being overly careful? Has anyone else heard this. I was always under the impression that certain breeds were prone to hip problems and some weren't it was genetics, well according to my vet that's not the case, the larger the dog the more prone they are to hip problems

strangely enough when Jasmine was on the glucosomine/condroiten pills she seemed to hurt more than when she was off them?!?!?!? Maybe just a fluke, but I did know large dogs were prone to HD.

I think you will find certain breeds are more prone to hip problems but certainly a large dog overweight in any breed could end up with problems.
