Unhappy licking and nibbling paws?

My 6 month old puppy has recently started nibbling and licking his paws. This is normally in the morning when he has just got up. He doesn't have fleas. I cannot see anything there. Any idea what can cause it? I'm phoning the vet tomorrow and can't get in today due to it being closed for the day.

Your on the right track going to the vet! It could be anything from allergies to a seed stuck in his paw that is irritating and causing him to lick.
I'd be curious to see what your vet finds, please let us know and good luck.
P.S. Try and discourage him from licking the area as much as possible. Good Luck!

may want to talk about the kibble you are giving him, sometimes the paws turn redish and/or start itching. that may be the wrong (too high nutrition) food for him.

Another reason dogs will chew at their feet is if their nails are too long. If that isn't the reason either then it's probably a food allergy.

I have heard that it could be due to allergies as to the reason for dogs licking and nibbling the paws.
