Discharge from nose - advice please!

Kelso will be going to the vet on Friday for his next boosters and deworming, as well as a check up.

I have noticed though that he has a milky, light yellow discharge coming from his nose. Once he wakes up, he doesn't necessarily sneeze, but he does little "puffs" out of his nose. Like he's about to sneeze, but doesn't. I read about nasal discharge and have found it could be a number of things, but the fact that it's yellow in color it sounds like an infection. He has recently developed a small bump on the side of his mouth --- I'm not sure if this is a cyst, a small bump from just getting hit in the mouth yesterday while trying to play with the big dogs, or an infection in his tooth (which I know can sometimes bother sinuses. Happened to me!).

BUT the thing that worries me, is that Sheiba had the same discharge from her nose this morning, and her gums have been a bit pale. Ikey started the "reverse sneezing" also.

Do any of you guys have any idea(s) as to what this MIGHT be? He has an appt. Friday, and will have the vet check that out when we go in. It just worries me with the fact that it has seemed to be contagious --- Denali is the only one who is fine (*knock on wood*). They are all eating, drinking, and their personality/energy levels are still the same so I'm not TOO concerned.

Thanks for any advice

I can only go by my experience with Shadow and his was a sinus infection...now, I'm not saying that's what your pet has and I noted that you are going to the vet so he/she will be able to tell you for sure.
You say he has a bump on the inside of his mouth...make sure you tell the vet about this in case it is the beginning of an abscess. Shadow had that too... they called it a retrobulbar abscess and it got so bad that he would yelp if the vet tried to open his mouth wide. It's probably not that and I don't want to scare you ...just make sure the vet sees it okay. Let us know what he finds and good luck!

Thanks.

We are most definetly going to let him know about the bump. It's actually not on the inside of his mouth --- it's visible just from on the side of his mouth... just below his eye. I've touched it, but it doesn't seem to bother him. I know how it is having an infection in just one measily tooth, and then it radiates into your sinuses and head. Ouch! I was just curious if anyone might have known. From what I read, nasal discharge is not a humongous concern for dogs -- unless of course there is blood or it is discolored.

He's like a little kid with a cold --- he wakes up with snot comin' outta his nose and Mommy's gotta wipe it for him. Hehe...

If it's not a good thing to give his booster with an antibiotic, I will make sure to mention it to my mom when she brings him in tomorrow. I'll have her tell him about the infection first --- how come it is not a good idea to give his boosters along with the infection? Just curious! Thank you for the heads up.

Update:

Went to the vet today and they are holding off on his boosters. He's definetly got a cold and is now on antibiotics. She said colds are very contagious in dogs and recommended we bring the others in since they were showing the same symptoms, even though not as severe. They're all on anti biotics and we found out that Denali has an ear infection. This was a surprise, as it has not seemed to bother her. So she has ear drops for her ear.

Other than that, she said that the huskies look WONDERFUL. And that Kelso is just so cute! She says "He's going to be a BIG dog!" LOL We kind figured that --- especially with shepherd and chow. His ears are standing up a little more. Hehe.

Just thought I would update!

Yes I know! I'm just glad it wasn't anything very serious. He coughs a little bit when there is slight pressure on his neck. This is has just started with him, but it's mostly his nose that was his symptom. His nose is sore. Poor thing. I try to wipe his boogers and he yips.

His new name is Booger Brain

OOPS, forgot to add:
We asked about the cyst, and she said that from what she has seen, cysts are common in young puppies and that they tend to pop up now and then. I guess if it gets any bigger, or becomes a problem we'll have to take him in. Anyone heard of this?

Aw thank you Everyone is doing very well. Within just 2 days, their "sniffles" have seemed to cleared up a lot. Still not out of the dark yet, but we're getting there!

Definetly an overload with giving medication! LOL All the dogs are recieving antibiotics, Denali also has ear drops, and the kittens have eye cream. But atleast I can give them all their meds at the same time. Hehe -- My crew appreciates the hugs! They've been pretty mopey lately.
