...uh...

So, is it cool to give your dog beer or any kind of alcohol? I think that's messed up.

Alcohol is just as bad for dogs as it is for us. Just like w/ people that do not drink regularly it would take a dog a lot less alcohol to get drunk then it does us, plus with the sheer size of some dogs.

A little alcohol will usually not hurt a dog, but giving them it in good size quantities will.

Don't be too quick to judge people when you see their dog drinking, unless they are blatently giving it to them. My friends beagle was crazy about beer. If you let it out of your site for one minute the dog would knock it over, and drink it. One girl saw this and said we were being cruel to the dog even though we did not encourage it and stopped him whenever we caught him doing it.

My other dog Jackson also likes beer and will do the same, he is just not as good at it as the beagle. We try to do everything to stop him from getting more then a little b/c he tends to become much more aggressive.

Never give your dog alcohol, caffeine, narcotics etc... Not only does it effect their body like it does a human, but they are much smaller, for the most part. My dogs are my children, I would never allow them to come to harm if I could help it!

i would say if the dog got a little bit, just dont literally give it to him, i wouldnt panic like alot of people would do. but. if i could help it i wouldnt give them any. my uncles dog knocked over his whole beer and drunk it all! the dog became ill and had to stay at the vet for a night. but id never just walk up to my dog and poor beer on the ground, if it was not purposley done, oh well.... no harm done, as long as it wasnt alot.

thats me. my opinion only.

I wouldn't either.
Unless my dog got into antifreeze, then vodka is your best bet to absorb it before they die.

My advice would be not to give alcohol to a dog at all. Alcohol has an adverse affect on the nervous system.

I think, and this is just my opinion, but if your dog gets into any poison at all, to go to the vet immediately. Home remedies, if given incorrectly, cause more harm than good. I personally wouldn't advise anyone to give alcohol to their dog under any circumstances. Going to the vet is your best bet in that situation. JMO

I would never purposely give any of my pets alcohol. Although Bandit, my cat has a slight problem. He seems to like beer, so whenever people come over and we have a few, I usually put him outside or advise them to keep an eye on their bottles. If they don't he comes over and sticks his tongue in it...haha. I can't see the amount he could get off of it to be enough to be harmful, but if he went around the room taking a sample off of everyone, it could be.

I wouldn't either. Yes- get to a vet. I'm an LVT and I'd be the one directed to give your pet the vodka when you get to us. Just FYI.

I'm sorry, but if you told me to give my dog vodka, I would probably seek a second opinion.

If a vet were to direct a tech to give my dog straight out vodka after it had ingested antifreeze rather than something like fomepizole seconded by sodium chloride for reconstitution, not only would that vet no longer be treating my dog but I'd do my best to see to it that he or she was no longer able to treat any animal again. jmo

hmmm
I got to think of that one
Alot of times i heared that a bottle of beer poored into the horsewater is very healthy on the coats, especially if it is a "weizen" (wheat-yeast beer) or a maltbeer.
Never thought about it with the dogs, but there are really healthy ingedients in it.
and I have to admit, my horse loves beer.
