De-worming for dogs
Hi!
I’m a huge animal lover and I was wondering if anyone could help me solve my problem… I have a dog who’s name is Elvis and a cat who’s name is Princess! I’ve discovered that Elvis had worms, (is it possible that he got from other pets???) so I want to my vet and he gave him a de-worming medication in a tablet form but he wouldn’t swallow it!! I didn’t want to use too much force so I tried wrapping it with some sausage but he some how figured it out! please help me!! Elizabeth |

Usually the Vet. gives that pill. Try crushing it and putting in a little bit of peanut butter. Works like a charm.......unless he doesn't like it!!
May want to try a tiny taste first to see if he will eat it befor adding the medication. |

What kind of worms were they? Typically OTC wormers aren't effective. If the vet gave you the wormer there are usually two rounds you have to do depending on the type of worm it is and it's lifecycle.
There are lots of ways to pill a dog. Personally, I open their mouth (place your hand over top of their muzzle and use your fingers to curl in their lips. Their natural reaction will be to open their mouth and they will not bite down b/c they won't want to bite their own lips), put the pill in the back of their throat, close their mouth and rub their throat to encourage swallowing. Another way that works for us is to create little cheeseballs with shredded cheese. Make 4 or 5 with the first few you give not having any pill in them. Then give him the one with the pill inside. They usually fall for that one every time. You can also slather the pill with peanut butter and toss it in with some kibble. The kibble will stick to the peanut butter and essentially cover the pill, thereby hiding it. between the smell of the pb and the smell of the kibble, they usually gobble it right down. |

Hi Elizabeth
about five months ago my dog Angie suffered from worms.
my friend told me to buy a de-worming pill and mix it with some chicken but Angie figured it out and only ate a quarter… that happened a couple of times unlit two months ago I’ve found a solution in a form of dry food that my Angie really liked and I didn’t have to force her at all !!! you should try it … Tasties Worm-Out |
