Learning the hard way: Rawhide bones are ze debil!

Ok, so Orchid got her first rawhide bone, and now she has the dingleberry fever like no other!

I should have known, and just kept to natural bones and nylabones!

What kind of fever??????

Sorry to hear if she is indeed sick, but have not known of any case where they get a fever from rawhide, but there are cases of death from choking on the pieces. They swell in the throat.

Cal - I think she means, she has loose stools. "Dingleberry fever" is just a term she used instead.

Poor Orchid! I have known of a few dogs who could just not tolerate raw hides at all. They'd either get the scoots, or throw up afterwards.

hhhmmmm.....I hear about this a lot, but I have never had problems with my dogs in my life. Blitz chews pigskins pretty much every day.

Sorry for Orchid, Kuchi did with his first one, then he didn't after. I don't do rawhide just for choking concerns.

My kids don't get them as often as yours but they've never had a problem either. I'm also concerned about choking so they're supervised while chewing.
