Cavalier Question
I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy, she is now 4 months old. I am having some problems with her throwing up right after she eats. I understand that some puppies eat too fast and they tend to throw their food back up. The problem with her is that it started in the beginning looking as if that was the case. Now after she eats it will stay in her stomach but 4 to 5 hrs later she throws up food and white mucas. I have gone to the vet and she told me that it could be 1 of two things. She could either be eating to fast or have some sort of epohsogus problem....I'm wondering if there are any other King Charles owners that have gone through this with their puppies? I feed her Nutro Ultra...a 1/3 cup three times a day. I had to mix in the wet food with dry because she refused to eat just the dry and started to loose weight. So as you can see I have been dealing with this for a while and a lot of vet bills later....I'm frustrated. As you know Cavaliers are not inexpensive dogs soo I think all of you can understand my frustrations. If anyone can offer any advice or comments I greatly appreciate them...Thanks!!!

Has your vet done any type of x-ray of her throat and into her tummy? How about an ultra-sound of her digestive tract? I would start there. You said you've had a lot of vet bills, maybe with an x-ray they can rule out the esophogial problem, or digestive problems. Then you can try a different approach.
Personally, and this is just my opinion, I would have the vet check all of that out before anything else. |

If your vet has ruled out everythign else I too would try switching her dog food. My parents have a dog that no matter what they tried to switch to, the dog threw up. Finally they found a dogfood that works just fine, and as long as they feed it, the dog doesn't get sick.
Again, we are not vets on here, so go with what your vet is saying, but what exactly are you feeding your dog? |

![]() If its an esophogial probem it wont just go away. Your vet should have completely checked her out rather than give you might be answers. They can do a moving ultrasound which although costs a bit would give you proper diagnosis for a few of his suggestions. Much easier to treat your baby when you know what the problem really is. Also the longer these things go on the more expensive it becomes. The major concern I would have is on the overall health of my baby . Your girl needs her food to stay down so she can grow healthy |
