Recurring cruciate injury

Skye, who came to be bred and have puppies here this spring, and ended up staying, is 5.5 years old. At the age of 18 months, she had injured her cruciate. Today she is limping. I have the original vet report, and have a call in to my vet, but I was wondering if anyone has dealt with cruciate injuries and recurring lameness.

Don't worry - she will be seen by my vet if he thinks it's necessary, I am just looking for information about cruciate injuries and would like to hear of other people's experiences with them.

Thanks.

I don't have any advice to offer, but I hope your baby feels better soon!

Our rottie tore her ACL at 3 yrs of age. Had ACL surgery. It lasted less than a year despite the fact that the vet used superstrong filament. She was just too heavy and rough on her knees. Then we had TPLO. Very expensive but she is going on five years now with no problem. We have, however, really shied away from letting her run after balls or play roughly with other dogs. Figured even if the one she had operated on twice didn't go, the other one would. So far so good.

Wisnto had ACL surgury about 4 1/2 years ago. He has had no problems since. He blew it out chasing a frisbee, that was when he could still see good enough to chase one. Our vet at the time did explain that the surgury has a better success on small dogs because they don't have the weight of a large one
Good luck!
