It could very well be from medication; was he previously potty trained before his big day at the vet?

He is getting better at going outside..ive only had him for 2 weeks and we are in the process of training him..No he wasnt really trained before i got him. He is a bad boy. His ear cropping and medication is going to be a stumbling block in the road to potty-training. My GIANT SCHN book says some Giants take as long as 6 months..be patient it says....Darn, my mini only took about 1 month...Now he can hold it all day, practically 2 days..although ive never gone farther than half a day without letting him out

Ahh well, you have a bit of a long road ahead of you and yep the book is right, patience is a must as well as time.

This could be a little stumbling block but just start at the beginning again and work from there. It will all come together.

Just take him out more often. He's not a bad boy. Some are just slow to mature. Six months is not really out of the normal range for a lot of dogs. My Doberman was about 8 or 9 months before he was reliable. I just had to watch him a lot more and take him out often. He was the slowest dog in that respect.

It's nothing to do with intelligence because in other ways he's the smartest dog and quickest to learn other things. It's probably just physical.

Also, if the dog goes often or doesn't go a normal quantity, he may have a bladder infection, although I suspect that is less common with males than females. It's not good to make any dog hold it all day. That sits there in their bladder getting stagnent.

Hang in there and be patient.

thnxs guys. Yeah he is only about 10 weeks old now..The antibiotics and painkillers are messing with his potty training learning..Thnxs Carrie for the hyperlink to the tappings of the ears. Brutus will need his done im sure. he gets 2 free ones after the last of the sutures come out..After that it is 15 bucks a pop...thats not really the bad part...its the 45min drive........I hope his ears stand tall...His show crop is HUGE.....i dont want them to be floppy like that great dane (although he is cute in his own weid way).
