I bought a lemon

Ok, I am going to start off by saying, lemon as being always broken, I love him to death....
Now we just got back from the vets again, I swear PFDS clinic stays in business because of us, LOL
On a more serious note.......
I got home from work, I fed my daughter, said hi to harley, mush, mush....
Then I noticed blood coming from his right ear.
I looked inside, blood everywhere, dried and fresh. So I got kayla dressed, called the vet. They said bring him in, so I dropped my daughter off at my moms, and went.
She took a look at the opposite ear first, all great, nice and clean. no issues, then she took a look at the ear that I told her about. She used the ear thingy to look inside.
No infection......
Now what, it is severely swollen, so she could not see clearly enough to diagnosed.
I told her about the weight loss, and how suddenly this has happened. Literally within a couple hours.
She gave us a cleaner, and a steroid ointment to try an bring down the swelling.
We go back in 7 days. If the swelling does not go down, we are doing a biopsy.
And possible ct scan if needed.
Everyone may think I am over reacting, but put the 2 things together, does not leave me to believe anything positive,
I am worried, because he is always ill, or hurt.
I hope it is nothing. She did not see anything foreign in his ear.
We do not go into the woods, so not a branch.
It has finally stopped bleeding, so I am cold compress to help with the pain and swelling.
The blood and swelling are coming from the lower ear, near the folds inside.
*crossing fingers it is nothing*

Gosh, it is always something with him isn't it?

I hope it is nothing serious. Does the vet have any idea at all as to what it may be? Maybe his ear got very itchy and he was scratching it too much... Poor boy. I could only imagine how painful that must be.

Best wishes to you. Keep us posted on how things go.

You can't make lemonade without lemons!!!

Sorry about Harley....Toby always had 'little' things going on with him all the time as well...it really wears you down with the worry.

Hugs to your boy!

Poor guy. I hope he feels better soon and it's nothing too serious. He really does sound so accident prone - like the clumsy kid at school that's always falling over. I bet he has a total heart of gold though.

the bleeding has stopped. Thank god, but the swelling is still there, so we must take this one day at a time.
That's right, a lemon is something that does not work, in the US you can return it before 30 days.
I was joking, I did not want people to get the idea that we was being returned, that was why I added, I love him anyways.
he is very uncomfortable right now, the steroids are making him drink more, and pee more. It is only for 7 days I hope.
Then we go back so she can take a look. Yesterday it was too bad, she could not really tell where the bleeding was coming from.
All she said is he does not have an actual ear infecion. She gave him antibiotic ointment so one does not start with all the blood, and possible open wound.
Better to be safe than sorry.

Does he act like it hurts when you touch it? Too bad you cant see where the cut is...if that is what it is. Wonder if he could have banged it on something? This has me stumped, too!

Hope the vet can find the problem soon!
