Question Leaking a clear, smell-less fluid?

As a puppy, A.j. had the problem of leaking pee when he slept. I found out that i just needed to take him outside before letting him sleep, and that was done with.

But, now A.j. is leaking agian! This time it isnt pee, though. I dont know what it is, i think it is clear, and it doesnt smell at all, if it does smell, it smells like chips, but i thought that was just my bed sheet that smelt like chips.

It might be drool, but i dont think its coming from that end of him. It is usually when he is laying next to Simetra, and it only started today, so i was thinking maybe Simetra is starting to go into heat. But what would he be leaking??

Anyone know anything about this? He isnt acting different, he isnt in pain or anything, hes just simply leaking from somewhere on him. I hope i find out that its just drool, but i keep forgetting to watch him when hes sleeping on my bed. And it only happens on my bed, it never happens when hes on his bed that is next to my bed.

Hopefully someone knows something about this, cause im really tired of seeing wet spots all over my bed!

Female dogs do leak fluids when they are in heat..and its clear/white. (Atleast mine have always been). If its coming from A.J..I honestly have NO idea what it is!!

Males will leak sometimes, espcially around females in heat from what I've heard. Not sure if it's fertile or not, but it can happen.

Even though Buzz is neutered, sometimes he will still "leak" even when he hasn't been around females in heat... I think it's "just something that happens" but there is a medical explanation for it that hopefully someone can explain to you... hah, I can't.

A urinary track infection can make them leak and also not even able to hold their urine back.

Thanks everybody!

But, im about 85% sure that its just drool now. I just realized how much he drools when hes watching me eat or when he is licking himself.

Im still going to watch him and make sure it IS coming from his mouth and im going to watch Simetra extremely close, to make sure she isnt in heat. Im not going to let them be alone outside anymore, ill just let them outside just long enough to relieve themselves and to get some energy out. Ill have to start taking them on longer walks, they usually run so much together that i only have to give them short walks.

So far, it doesnt seem like Simetra is in heat. A.j. hasnt been acting any different around her and he hasnt even been sniffing her much. Last time she went into heat when she was here (when my friend was visiting and brought her), her rear area got really red looking, probably from blood or something, and she was really snappy at the male dogs. So, i will watch out for those signs as well.

When I'm not sure, I blot with a bright white towel. In this case you could have him lie on it. Sometimes dilute urine doesn't smell.

Ok, thank you! I will let him lie on my bed with a white towel under him after his breakfast.

Hmm, I remember Crossfire talking about this once before. It is common for unneutered males to have a discharge. The unfixed males at work "leak" while they are walking, but it's not pee.

If I remember correctly, it is completely normal, and even for it to be yellow. The biggest flag would be if it had an odor to it.

Maybe I can find the thread later, or Cross will come by and know what I'm talking about.

Ok, thank you! Hopefully thats all it is, becuase he should be neutered by the end of the summer. First its going to be Kittiwi and Simetra being spayed, and then A.j. is next.

Ok, now im about 99% sure its drool. I just got a little paranoid at first, because of the big dog/cat food recall, if the smallest thing is wrong with one of the dogs, it freaks me out.

A.j. just got in from outside and i let him on my bed. I looked over after a few minutes and there were wet spots EVERYWHERE on my bed. I was about to jump up and ask if we would be able to run A.j. into the vet real quick, when A.j. picked up his head. There was drool just streaming from his mouth. That explains the chip smell, too. I give A.j. a chip every now and then when im eating them. He used to get them as a puppy, too, just for something to chew on when we were watching tv (he was only about 4 weeks old, so he didnt eat them very fast, he would just chew it up and make a mess everywhere).

Its not that fun to know that im sleeping on dog drool all night, but im very happy that its nothing about his health!

I would check inside his mouth for tooth problems. It doesn't sound quite normal for him to be drooling that much, from what I'm reading.

Well its only when hes panting. Hes stopped panting now and it doesnt look like hes drooling anymore. It wasnt exactly "streaming" from his mouth, that was kind of exaggerated, but there was a fair-sized drool spot under his mouth.

I will check his mouth after im done typing this. I usually do check his mouth every morning, during his grooming, but i had to hurry today because we were going to my grandmas to paint easter eggs.

Hmm, well, i just checked his mouth, i dont see anything wrong. He does have a little goo on his teeth because i havent brushed his teeth for a while, but i wouldnt think that would make him drool.

What? You don't like drool on your sheets? I thought everyone did. Including the hair! LOL

Eh, the worst was when Cuca (little chi mix that lived here) would scoot her butt on my bed! Little stinker!
