I'd say, as long as your dogs are a good healthy weight and get a good diet usually, there's nothing wrong with that.
![]() But....how the heck can you have fat left over? OMG that's the best bit! *faints from shock* ![]() Cass. |

I give my dogs my leftover fat (if my dad doesn't eat it first, LOL), and they have never had any problems.

I also agree...table scraps are fine in small quantities...but too much fat might give your dog diarrhea...I'd scrape it into the garbage and let the dog just lick the plate!! (hey...that's just me...) |

my brother in law bought a huge cut-it fed 5 adults and my nephew-so there was a TON of fat left over (it is just about the fattiest cut of meat, but sooooooooooo good!) so I took the scraps home in a freezer bag (just gave her a bit, though, she will be getting quite a treat for about a week!). Sophie is definitely a very good weight, so I'm not worried about that. Pancreatitis is always in the back of my mind....

just as you said, I'd split it up so a little bit for many meals. The enzymes needed to digest the fats in that form may be on the low side in the digestive tract, and too much fat could overwork them, which is what creates the loose stool. Just freeze it in quite a few sandwich bags and maybe some every other day or so. It'll be very good for her though, dogs thrive off of fat and oils.

Large dogs seem to be able to tolerate fatty meat better than the tiny ones. Meat is good for them as long as it's plain. Seasonings usually cause a stomach upset.
Cass, that's gross!! FAT????? YUK! ![]() |

I agree that smaller dogs can't handle fat, i know mine doesn't. I gave Casey a small piece last year and it was not very pretty . Either way it is gross and i myself cant eat them, i start gaging LOL... you would always see me peeling the fat off the meat, but hubby will eat them!, yeck!. |
