Anyone used Rescue Remedy or similar?

I came across advertisements for Rescue Remedy online last night and noticed it said it can be used with dogs who are fearful to relieve feelings of fear. Has anyone ever used something like this on a fearful dog and seen results? Was looking at it as a possibility for Roxy. Thanks for any input!

Rescue Remedy is an all natural product that actually works to relieve stress, anxiety and such without any side effects at all. I have a friend with a JR terrier and he was just terrible on trips, and they take the RV out quite a bit. I told her about the Rescue Remedy and she gave him 4 drops 45 minutes before leaving and she said he was like a different dog. She is very very happy with the results.

I've never used it, but had several recommendations for it when Sophie was injured, and have heard very positive things about it

I've used it myself, and it did absolutely nothing! But it works differently for different people .. and animals. I must admit I have heard some great stories about it. I have a bottle laying around my house somewhere.. maybe I should use it on Harley sometime (the ever so anxious doggie!). Let me know how it goes, I'd love to hear the results.

Me too. Although I had a little bit of success with it during a mock driving test I took, but I think that had more to do with me not being in a rush to get ready in time for my lesson that morning.

Never used it on a dog, but I've spoken to people on another forum who've used it and it worked really well.

Cass.

Sometimes it's the first time useing it that doesn't work. I don't know why, but try it again the second time. It should work then. With her JR, it didn't work on the trip up north, but she tried again before returning and the results were wonderful, and have been ever since.

The Bach Flower therapie is not just the rescue remedy...

i asume that u are looking for help with your agression problem, can't you contact a homepath?

Bach therapie holds way more...

e.g "Heather "(Calluna vulgaris) is good for dogs that have trouble integrating in a family...
"holly" (Ilex aquifolium) is good for animals that don't like certain things, and react then with uncontrolled agression, anger and attack...

but maybe you can talk to a homeopath and see what is the right mixture for your dog!
The rescue remedy is great, but sometimes it works better with one than the other. but a friend of mine used it very successfully...

I've used rescue remedy on myself and Topper, when we first started showing to calm our nerves. I don't know if it helped me, I'm assuming it did, but it helped him quite a bit! Helped his neurotic barking when we started crate training him too!

I have a friend that uses it often for many different reasons from anxiety, aggressiveness, "bed rest" for an ill dog...

We tried it and a few holistic derivatives of it on Ruby after she was attacked, and if anything, it made her more neurotic than she was before. Like Swiftwind said, it works differently for different people and dogs.

This is an amusing article and insight into the bach remedies....

http://www.mystrobl.de/ws/bachfle.htm

I find it highly ineffective, and you'd probably get more benefit from adding a few drops of brandy to the dogs tongue..

Well, I would not recommend it, but Bobbie knocked over one of my husband's beers and lapped up a bit before he could get to her. She was a very mellow dog for a while afterwards

This was one of his homebrewed lagers (dark ale or somesuch).
