Lightbulb Climate controlled pet Carrier

Has anyone seen the new pet carrier that is climate controlled? It looks so great. It's climate controlled to keep your dog cool or warm. I'd love to get one for Emma. I saw this in the Modern Dog Magazine. Such a great idea. Here is the link to check it out. www.komfortpets.com

I don't see it as being very practical. It has to be plugged in - in fact their site says it's ideal for places like: home, private plane, boat, RV...um...aren't those places already climate controlled??? I don't think I'd trust it to keep my dog cool in a hot car...not to mention that I'd have to have it plugged in to my cigarette lighter which would either drain my battery or I'd have to have the car running - in which case I can just use the car's A/C.

I'm sure they'll make tons of money though.

Well just my opinion, I still think it's a great idea. Most new cars & Rv's you can plug things in without draining the battery. Plus I think this would be great at dog shows. I've been to several shows and the dogs have looked hot in the crates. It would be great to cool Emma down after agility. Emma is sometimes hot in the house in the winter so this would help her.

I didn't say it was a bad idea...just didn't look practical to me for the price. I don't do dog shows, I have no idea about that. I guess it would be a good solution if you have access to an outlet and aren't in a climate controlled environment.

it looks like a good idea but I agree with Kennelmom about it being practical. It would only be practical if say you didn't have a/c in your vehicle, like me, and its pretty hot in arizona, but I use slabs of blue ice frozen and lay them under a towel. I keep several packed in the ice chest and as they get unfrozen I swap them out. This got me home from Flagstaff, a 3 hour drive into Phoenix. Bandit was suffering from the heat and I feel the blue ice packs saved his life. They are a whole lot cheaper too.

Relax people. It's not like I'm making you go out and buy this. I know I like when people share information about new products. Not that we all need to buy or even like the products. It just seemed like it was a good product for some people. It's not like I work for the company. I just wanted to share the information with some people that would be interested in this type of product.

Very fancy! I'm a sucker for gear for the dogs.
I'd love a crate that stayed a bit warmer for herding since the dogs are basically in the van or in a fairly cool arena in the winter. It would be great so long as I didn't end up with a dead battery. If you threw a blanet over the crate too ,it would be even warmer.
There's no end of stuff I could buy for dogs

I saw that last year, it looked like an interesting idea. I thought when I saw it before they said it had a battery option, but apparently they removed that...
It seems like it would be possibly useful if you want to keep the pet a little warmer or cooler than the air temperature, but I wouldn't rely on it if the air temperature was TOO hot or cold for the pet without it. (if that makese sense.)

A couple times I can think of when it would have been a nice thing to have-- such as when our air conditioner broke and the temperatures outside were very hot in the summer, and my dogs and rats were uncomfortably hot, it would have been useful. I found ways to help keep them cool such as putting ice cubes on a tray in the rats' cage and using a cooling bed for the dogs...
