Dog has red paws

About a week ago I noticed that one of dogs back paws was red in between his toes ( if you know what I mean) it looked read and it was a bit alive.
I called the vet and they said to put neosporin for about a week and see if it got better.
The paw started to get better.
Today I noticed that his paw is a bit red and now one of his front paws is red in between toes. It looks red and irritated.
Has anyone had this problem with their dogs? Should I be concerned? I am wondering if it has something to do with the heat.

Perhaps it would be better to take the dog to the vet, just to check. He could have been bitten by something. Not sure if the heat would affect it or not, someone else should be able to talk to you about that.
I'd just take him in to be safe.

Cass.

Could it be fungus? If so don't mess around with that.

Maybe contact dermatitis?? Does your dog get seasonal allergies?

I agree with taking the pooch to the vet, just to check. It may be a number of things, but we wouldn't be able to diagnose it over the computer.

Hmm, I had a pitbull who had terribly red feet when she lived in her old home. Once she came home with us, her feet cleared up. The wood floors were made out of pine (I think), so we're pretty sure it was the flooring which irritated her feet.
