Unhappy Bye-bye Pay

At 11:30 this morning, we are going to the vet's office to have Pay put down. When I heard we have to put her down, silent tears streamed down my face. Please, if you have any ways that I could feel better, please post, or private message me. She has been here ever since she was found on the highway. I will post as soon as I get back from the vet. She has gotton old and sick, and in a week, we will have her ashes. This brings tears to my eyes. Please tell me any way that I could feel better. I am thinking about a new puppy (not to replace Pay) in about 3 months. Thanks.

Pay: I love you, and you will forever be in my heart. :

I just got back from the vet. We went in, and the docter looked at her and said that she needed to be put down. Pay threw up in the exzam room. She was put down at 11:58 a.m., and today was her puppies birthdays. I accidently said the 14th, but it is actually the 15th. We will get her ashes around Tuesday. We also got her a picture frame for her picture, and 2 candles.

I don't think there is much that I can say to make it any easier. I know talking about, and remembering all the good times help me. It's hard to re-live the memories, but in the end I think it helps with healing. I like to do most of that by myself, share a few good ones with really close friends, and in time it gets easier knowing that your dog isn't suffering and you realize all the joy they brought you. You'll know when it's the right time to get a new dog, never to replace, but to start out on a whole new set of adventures.

That is touching. Yes, I miss her. She was nicknamed "Sounder" Thanks, and I am still seeking help, but that helped a lot. Thanks I have her picture, and I am waiting for her ashes to be ready. Thanks GSD

Dogs4life,

And dogs4life, that was my worst time also. I was scared and sad, looking at her dying in the doorway to the living room. When I got in the car, I was crying, but only silent tears let people know my emotion. When I got in the exam room, I had tears in my eyes, and I was fighting them when the doctor came in.

Once he told us that she was going to have to be put down, I was thinking "How could this be possible?" But now, I am not as sad. I am thinking about getting a new puppy soon, and I want to watch it grow up, but I am getting a puppy because I want to live with it as long as possible.

I an so sorry to hear that you had to put Pay down... I know what it's like having to do that, and it's one of the hardest situations to experience in life, in my opinion.

Aww... This made me cry. I couldn't even read it outloud to my mom.
"I Stood by Your Bed Last Night

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined this to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times,
your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today,
Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today,
You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I am not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house,
as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew.
That in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch
you yawning and say "goodnight,
God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.

Listen to this one I found:
As I sit in those moments of quiet,
When sadness invades me,
I know that yesterday,
You were here.

Now you are away from us,
Not knowing your future,
Or when you'll come home, but yesterday,
You were here.

It has now been a week,
A week since you last were in the house,
An entire week since we carried you away,
To the place where we did not know your future,
But just last week,
You were here.

Another day passes;
a week ago, you were still with us,
In daily reports from the clinic,
They did not know your future,
But we could still hope, and,
You were here.

More days pass,;
A week ago you left us,
Your head cradled in our hands,
Your spirit gracefully moving upward,
But for a few hours of that day,
You were here.

Sadness invades again,
As I know that once those hours pass,
I can no longer look back,
Over the span of a familiar week's time,
To find that comforting point when,
You were here.

More time will pass;
Sadness will not so much invade as menace,
And I will mark the days,
Saying things like,
"last month, last summer, last Halloween, last year,"
You were here.

I dread that day,
One year from now,
That first marking of the time,
That your body was no longer with us;
Though we will never forget you,
Your tangible memory fades,
The feel of your fur, your head, your back, your weight against us,
The smell and sounds of you when,
You were here.

The emptiness is beginning to fade,
To change into another reality,
One with you still playing a part,
But a role of ethereal presence rather than physical comfort we crave;
Your memory, your spirit, your essence and counsel,
Dwell with us, but this feeling is not the same as when,
You were here.

Sorry to hear about Pay! I recently went through the same thing with my Bleu. He was with me all through my childhood, and it was very hard to let him go. I still think about him everyday, but I know that he is up there now and no longer in any pain. Just to know that he's all better takes a huge weight off my shoulders, and also helps me get over the loss. We are adding a new pup to the family in early March to be named BryleeBlu Mckenna, after Bleu of course.

Thanks guys! I am really cold, but it's susposed to be 75 degrees today.

The thing that made me saddest is when I went around the house, and I saw Pay's leash that was tied to a bush so she wouldn't walk in the road.

God, please take care of my baby, Pay. RIP Pay, rest in peace. It is better, because now I can read my poems outloud without breaking into tears.

Snow,
Reading about Pay brings back the loss of my beloved dogs --Dinky (Pom, Died in Sleep 11/00) & Lance (GSD, PTS 11/05). You'll never forget Pay and that is OK. Just know that you shared a love that many dogs and humans only dream about. In this regard, you were both blessed.

Continue to share your love and be blessed.
