Tell Chloe to stop getting sick.

She scared the mess out of me this morning. Again. For the third time.

Yesterday I knew she wasn't herself. She was just laying around looking pitiful and trust me on this one, that is something she does not do unless something is wrong. We had thunderstorms all day yesterday so I thought that perhaps it was the storms.
Last night I brought her up to bed and JeanAnne, my younger sister, came over to pet her. I told JeanAnne that Chloe wasn't feeling well and to just be careful, but she didn't listen too closely. JeanAnne pet her on the head and Chloe gave a soft yelp. Then she grabbed Chloe's head to give her a kiss goodnight and Chloe yelped like a dying dog and snapped at JeanAnne. I knew then that something wasn't right because not matter how snappy Chloe can get somethings, rude human behavior isn't something she frets about to that extent.

When I woke up this morning Chloe was panting very heavily, her eyes were wide, her ears where back, and you could tell she was hurting. She went to get up countless times and she'd give a soft yelp and then lay gingerly back down. I was already in a tearful mood because of Rush, so her acting like something was seriously wrong with her just set me off again. I phoned into work and asked what their earliest appointment was. I was able to get her in at 8:00 (skipped my first period study hall, but that's okay).
Dr. Booth examined her. I told her what was going on with her and he asked if she had been limping or having irregular behavior. She was walking fine and besides her yelping and lethargy everything else was normal. Dr. Booth started roughing her up to see if he could get a reaction out of her (roughly massaging her hips, moving her legs, etc.) and it was her neck that was giving her problems. He said it wasn't anything serious, but most likely a pulled muscle. (Probable cause being that she was standing up in the back seat of my car on Saturday while I was running errands, I braked for a traffic light, and she fell off the seat.)
She can't do any strenous activity that requires her to move her neck around (tug, catch-the-ball, leash pulling, etc.) and is on an anti inflammitory/pain killer drug for the week.

Dumb mutt scared the life out of me. I swear every three months I have to take her into the vet because something is wrong with her and each time it ends up costing me $100+ bucks.

Please tell Chloe to not get sick or hurt anymore, but if she needs to get sick or hurt, to not require a trip to the vet and to NOT get sick or hurt when I'm already a basketcase, as that causes me to flip out even more. On top of that, I'm a poor highschool senior trying to save up for college. When I brought Chloe home, having emergancy vet visits every three months was not something I had forseen.

Oh, she's fine now. Absolutely chipper after we gave her some pain meds. She's up prancing around wanting to play. This is going to be a fun week, not being able to play tug with her. Whoo hoo.

Chloe, you silly girl! Stop this!

I am glad it wasn't anything serious! Mandi has given me a couple of scares before too. The last time, she started acting normaly just before we took her to the vet. They definetely like to see just how much we will tolerate of them. LOL

They do like to give us a scare from time to time, don't they! I'm just glad to hear she's 'on the mend' and starting to feel better. Luckily it wasn't anything too serious.

I'm glad she's ok! Phew!

You should look into a Roadie or a Champion CARE harness. I use the Roadie, but ton'd particularily like the new style. Well worth the money.

Poor girl! I'm glad she's feeling better and hope she doesn't have any more incidents - for both your sakes!

She woke up this morning and you could tell her neck was hurting her again. She took her meds without too much complaint and was chipper yet again when we came home from school.

Poor dog wants to play tug so bad, but I can't let her. Luckly its been nice outside so I can take her out more frequently to burn off her energy.

I'm going to keep track and if in three more months something goes wrong, I'll know I'm doomed.
