Getting spayed

Ok So I am going to have chloe spayed hopefully this week. Needless to say I am nervous about it. I have never had to go through thi process because all of my other dogs were previously fixed before I got them with the exception of her. I have waited for so long because of my fear of having it done but it needs to be done. So What can I expect with recovery and whatnot? Also She has never had any surgery of any kind so should I have blood work done before hand? I havent had time to speak to a vet yet because I am in between vets at this point and havent had any luck finding another one I trust so while the search is on for a vet I was hoping to get some insight from you that have experienced this.

Well, I have had 7-8 female dogs spayed. And I still get nervous everytime one of my critters is getting done. She will most likely (Depending on the vet), stay overnight. And then come back in the morning, and she won't be drowsy anymore. Sometimes they need to wear E-collars if they are picking at the incision site. I don't take them for walks or let them go outside and run around for atleast a weak to give the incision time to heal. We didn't get bloodwork done or anything before they were spayed, but if you are worried that might be a good idea! (And if she hasn't been to a vet for a check up recently, you should definitely get that done).

I wouldn't worry. It's usually an uncomplicated, common surgery. The only thing you should really watch for is the dog licking the stitches and not doing anything vigorous until she's healed (or mostly anyway). But I agree, with the vet check-up before hand. Vets usually insist on it first.

Good luck, I'm sure everything will go smoothly. It's uncommon for disasters to happen from spay/neuters.
