Lucy gets x-rays tomorrow

Lucy is getting a set of x-rays tomorrow morning to see how the surgery is working. Hopefully we will see a change in the shape of the socket in her shoulder. The socket is flat and it should be getting deeper. The Doc will also be checking the growth rate of her bones which is causing the luxating elbows and causing her bones to bend. I think I notice her legs being straighter than before so I am hoping for good news there. I have been studying pictures of her from two months ago and pictures of her last week and I think I see a difference. She has not dislocated her shoulder in two months. The last time it dislocated was 3 days after surgery and not at all since. I think she is getting better. I have been making her do her exercises and swimming every single day since surgery to give her the best chance possible. Wish us luck tomorrow, Lucy has to go to sleep for the x-rays and this always scares her a lot!

Lucy had her x-rays yesterday morning. She did fine with the anesthesia and was up and running by the evening. Her specialist had a peek and said it looks like her socket is starting to get deeper. He was hoping for a bigger difference. He wanted them to be deeper than they are now but he said they still have about 4 more months to form and have a chance. He loves her muscle tone and said I was doing a great job of exercising her. He wants less running and more swimming to protect the joints until they are fully formed. He bumped her swimming up to 45 minutes twice a day. That is really hard work for both of us but it's only for 4 more months and we can do it!! Thank goodness summer is finally here! Her legs have straigtened out a bit and her elbows are better. He could not dislocate them when Lucy was under anesthesia. Last time he could easily pull them out but now they are pretty solid. There is still some play in the joint but not too bad. We get x-rays again in 3-4 months to see the final result. Oh, and he said no surgery for the left shoulder! Everyone please keep your fingers crossed for that right shoulder socket to deepen and we will be home free!!!!!
Thanks for all the positive thoughts and prayers for Lucy. We have a few more months of work to do but it's all worth it for my little Lucy-Loo-Poo!!

Wonderful news!!! I just knew swimming would help her and am thrilled that things are going well for her! Keeping our paws crossed here that the next few months help her improve even more!
