mosquito bites

Do your dogs react to mosquito bites? Awhile back when I was first given Bogart's Frontline, I noticed that it doesn't protect them from mosquitoes. I asked my vet about this and he said that dogs generally don't react the way humans do to mosquito bites. I swear though he gets mosquito bites all over him. When I take him to the park, there are tons of mosquitoes there, I see them flying all over him, and sometimes he gets little bumps afterwards. Also over the 4th of July weekend, there was this big horsefly flying around him. Later I noticed a big bump near his butt which looked like a horsefly bite. What do you guys think? Does your dog get bumps from mosquito bites? And if so, what do you use as a mosquito repellent for your dogs?

Kassie skin reacts from mosquito bites where's Boomer's doesn't. I think it depends on whether your dog's allergic to the mosquito venom. When Kassie gets bitten it swells up into big lump, the size of a dollar coin, and normal turns into a hot spot afterwards. A bite she had on her neck turned nasty and the vet gave me animax ointment for it. It kind of helps it but I had to keep baby socks on her back feet to prevent her nails from more damage to the spot.

Poor Bogey! I do use mosquito repellent made for dogs on Boomer when we go to flyball practice. It does help keep them off. I know there's also a homemade mosquito repellent out there.
