Cooldown coats
Many short haired dark dogs get overheated very quickly in direct sunlight even if the temperature is moderate.
I bought a cool down coat at a dog show. Paid too much but would be easy to make in terri towel or chamoise. You wet them before you put them on the dog & as the water evaporates it cools down underneath. They can be rewet as needed. Here are some pics in case any one is looking for a little project. Two buckles one round belly (high enough to avoid any little yellow splashes - you know what I mean) and one across the chest. Ariel loves hers & they really work. ![]() ![]() |

What a great idea! I take Jinx for loooong walks around my neighborhood, and he has very short, dark hair just like Ariel! He loves the walks but even I can feel how hot he gets, especially where I live. Where I live it gets over 100 degrees everyday! So this sounds like an excellent idea!
Very purdy doggy of yours as well! ![]() |
