My dog ate a piece of cooked spare rib bone
My small dog ate a piece of a cooked spare rib bone and has been coughing and lightly chocking on and off for a week now. Any suggestions as to whether the bone splinter will pass thru his intestines or medication he can take for this?
Thanks,KE |

The only way to know for sure is to get him to a vets soon and get x-rays done. Hopefully he can pass it, though one would think he would have already if he could. If not, he may need surgery to remove it.

I agree, after a week it should have passed and I would have your vet take a look. These type of bones splinter pretty easily and a piece could have gotten lodged somewhere in the trachea causing the coughing.
