Vaccination Reaction?!?

My puppy got his 2nd set of vacinations today and since he has been just sleeping away (which is REALLY unusual for him) but I can understand that. Then he threw up. I thought maybe his stomach was just upset but he fell asleep again and woke and threw up again? Is it normal for them to throw up? I would just call but Saturdays my vet it only open until noon, so they are all gone

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. I don't know if this is normal.

Thank you

I did a quick google search about allergic and/or vaccine reactions, and all the sties i visited agreed that vomiting is slightly over 'mild' reactions and that a vet should be called.
does your vet have an answering service? or perhaps theres another after hours vet in the phone book that you can at least consult with?

WOW!A couple of days ago Sammi just got her second round of shots too and she threw up twice too! She's fine now and when I called the vetthey acted like nothing was wrong... they just said to hold off feeding her for another hour not to upset her stomach...
She was also yelping because the area where she got the shot
was super sensitive... She's fine now... I'm sorry you must
have been worried because I was so frightened! What did your dog
throw up? The vet gave her some tuna while giving her the medicine
so she threw that up... She's fine now though... if you
find anything out def. let me know! I hope your puppy is feeling better
now...

He seems okay, he is still just sleeping next to me, he doesnt want to do much else. He hasn't gotten sick again yet. I have held off feeding him, but he doesnt seem hungry, so he MUST not feel good. He is just laying next to me for now and I am watching him very carefully. Thank you sooooo much for telling me that your puppy just went through this and is okay because I am the type that hear of a new illness and think he MUST have it! I am much more relieved, and Toby is doing better I think. If he gets sick again I am calling the animal hospital in Palm Springs to talk to a vet there. I think it's going to be a LOOOOOOONG night!

Calibur all my chi's had a reaction to the second vaccination.
swelling and vomiting.

try to give him fluid as you dont want him to dehydrate.
Im sure he will be his naughty little self tomorrow

Ps. I took my girls to the vet as I freaked out lol.
but as he seems fine now I think he will be fine.

Next vaccination time try giving him a litle vit c before injection

Well, after a very long night of watching him he is okay this morning. He is doing very well, naughty as ever. Chewing up everything in site (including my feet!). He is leaping in his normal circles and just looking for ways to bug me. In other words he is back to normal. Thank you guys for your responses it made me feel a lot better.

i'm so glad he's feeling better. i'd call your regular vet on monday and let them know what happened so that they are aware and can head off another reaction next time.

I only get the first shots, then rabies every three years. I will have the teeter test in a few years for them to see if they are still protected. The sickness I heard is caused by over-medicating. http://www.wholisticanimal.com/petvaccinations.html
