Parvo concern
Me in Kiev here. I'm the one with the 4 1/2 week old pup who just today brought her back inside to do her business. I know she's been around places where there were lots of dogs. I've only had her 2 days and today was the first day I kept her inside (after a visit to the vet). What exactly is "parvo" and how would I know if she's been infected? I realize it's a bit early to tell anything, but it does bother me. I am new at this game. Always had cats before. I love her so much--I want to make sure she stays well!

Parvo can be contracted by direct or indirect contact with vomit, diarrhea or any contaminated discharges from an infected dog. It is all too often fatal.
Symptoms of parvo include sudden onset of vomiting, bloody diarrhea, dehydration, lethargy, high temperature and sometimes sudden death. Symptoms are similar in adults, although they can be less acute. There is no way at home to know if your dog has been infected unless symptoms start to present themselves. |

That's why it is a very bad idea to take a new puppy out walking untill it's had all it's shots. It can get parvo by just walking in an infected area. I bought a puppy years ago who died the first night I had her home. It's a horrible disease!!
