question about recovering from a spay

I have a 2 1/2 year old staffordshire mix who was spayed two weeks ago. They used staples to close the incision. The staples were removed today. She seemed fully recovered, until this evening. She has been whimpery and looks very uncomfortable when walking, especially climbing stairs. I am wondering if removing the staples should or couls make her this uncomfortable. I called my vet and they said the removal shouldn't hurt her at all, but that I shouldn't worry unless tomorrow I see any swelling and she still seems to be in pain. But of course I am worried. Has anyone had similar experiences?

Staple removal shouldn't hurt her (I should know they used them on me too.) The spots where the staples were may sting a little bit but shouldn't be inflamed or there shouldn't be any bumps where the incision is. Check her thoroughly in that area tomorrow morning. If you see anything suspicious get her to the vet.

naturally you are worried... i would be worried if you werent. i am a vet nurse. and they are right dont worry to much probably just the incision ismoving around alittle. but make sure it isnt swelling and there is no fever. check her temp if you know how..

if not ask i can let you know. also look to make sure she isnt licking it to much... she probably will be alittle sore but still she shouldnt have any pain... if she is only like whimpering alittle like oh this is uncomfortable...

Me myself i wouldnt take a chance.. it may be nothing it maybe something... but that is me...
My cocker had that problem and my cat did too... but they were very active all the way till the stitches were taken out so... just watch check the fever... means infection... check to make sure it isnt puffy... touch it.. feel it see where it hurts

I am not sure I know how to check her temp. how would I do that? There are a few bumps near the incision, but the vet said they looked okay, and to just make sure they don't get larger or more irritated.

Thank you for your replies.

get a regular old time thermometer or a new one that has the beeping thing when your done. and insert it into the rectum about half and inch and let it sit for about a minute and a half... then pull it out and if it is over 102.5 then you need to call a vet now... Temp means infection... Temp means sick...

Let me know if you need any further asst. if you have someone to help that would be a plus because she wont like a thermometer going up her bumb...

102.5 or alittle lower is good... above that vet now!!!! dont wait..to call...

1.5 minutes

bumps near the incision arent going to hurt but they shouldnt be there unless it is where the staples were pulled out and there maybe like a little bumb like calcium buildup type thing. but bumps shouldnt be there but check her temp... plz let us know

Yes, if you can check her temp...other than that how does the skin look around the incision and staple area? Does it look irritated, really red or swollen? Any seeping?
