Exclamation Neutering

I am adopting a clumber/ cocker spaniel 7 mths old from the PSPCA Charlie. He is being neutered and microchiped. I was wondering is there any special way I should treat him when he comes home. I have heard dogs are usually lethargic after the operation for a couple of days. Hopefully he will be home on Mon.

We just had our 5 month old lab neutered yesterday, we were told not to allow playing, running and to allow him to sleep. I keep an eye on him I tried to keep him in his crate and take him out once in a while to lay down with me on the floor. The vet said that short leash walks were allowed. He has been sleeping most of the day today
I just keep an eye on him to make sure he does not look like he is in pain and does not lik his stiches

Give them a ring and ask how he's going. I hope everything is ok.

I'd just give them a call and ask. Sometimes they just forget or misplace a number, or are so busy they just don't have the time.

LOL, I just want to congratulate you on adopting from the SPCA!

And you are getting a cool mix there. Be sure to post pics when he comes home if you can.

As for neutering aftercare. Don't walk him in any high grass, don't let him run around too much, don't let him lick his incision or pull out any sutures and watch/inspect the incision for infection.

Usually they pull through like champs though!

Thanks... I feel a little better. See I had a weird dream that he was under anesthesia too long so he died, and I had another one where someone who also wanted him stole him... Silly Huh?

LOL, I don't think they'd let anyone steal him. And neutering is a relatively quick procedure, so it's unlikely he'd be under too long.

Good Luck with getting him home soon!

I'm the one who found out what breeds he was cause the PSPCA just said clumber spaniel mix. Well I did a little research and I noticed a picture of a clumber/cocker spaniel who looked just like him ( different color)

Just picked up Charlie at 4:00 pm. My dad loves him. He is the sweetest my chihuahua/dachsund tried to bite him. Chalie just stood there. LOL. He got neutered and they cut his private and stitched it up with puple plastic thread. He gets stitches out in Sept.
