my boxer has bumps all over her sides

my three year old boxer Emmy has bumps all over her sides and they look like mosquito bites but she is a inside dog because it is just to hot in the florida sun for her. first i thought it might be from our puppy when they play but then she would have them on her neck where he bites her. the only other thing it could be is a food allergy because we changed her from kibbles and bittes to purina lamb and rice. but it has been a week and it happened last night. has anyone got any other similar problems or any ideas. thanks for all the help

It does sound like a reaction ( allergy ) to something, since it occured lastnight and the bumps are still present you may want to consider at least giving your vet a call.

Typically reactions of this nature can be handled at home with over the counter medications but it is something you'll want to let the vet know about and so he or she can give you the correct doseage of medication as well as assist you in figuring out what the problem may be.

You should definitely take him/her to the vet first.

After that, do some research on skin disease - I've been doing this myself with my Pom:

I would take your pup to the vet too; however, my aunt was misdirected by the vet to go to a doggie dermatologist and she ended up spending so much money, and the dog still has the skin problem on her head. it is like bumps similar to what you are saying. They said it was an allergy but she has tried everything, meds included and nothing has worked. Recently she looked up some type of skin disease and she fits 19 of the symptoms for it so hopefully all will get better. Are there any additional symptoms or just the bumps?

barney gets bumps along his back every summer, the first time he got them I took him to the vets they agreed that it was an allergy but didnt know what her was allergic too, they gave him some meds and it went away, this year when he got it I just bathed him in exma rid shampoo and used a skin calm spray on him and they went. There are a lot of things you will need to think about like, where do you walk him? are there any chemicals used in the area, treats or anything else get gets along side his diet? The heat? flea proudcts or wormer etc.? Any shampoo you have used on him? What do you wash his bedding in? all these things can cause a allergy, even if you have been useing them for years, an allergy can suddlenly occur, good luck I hope you find out what it is
