tooth loss

at what age do puppies teeth usually fall out or get replaced? my lab , which is not quite 5 months old, was in obidience class last night, and she was playing with a toy when a tooth fell out of her mouth. is this something i should be concerned with. i have yet to get on a regular teeth cleaning regiment. how soon shoudl i begin with this. any insights would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

IA puppy's permanent teeth start to come in from 3 - 6 months All permanent teeth should be in by 7 months. Unless the tooth is broken off, it is just a "baby tooth". Getting a puppy used to having his teeth brushed is easiest when he is still young, but it's not too late. You might want to start out just rubbing your finger over his teeth to get him used to the idea. Gradually, after a week or so, add some doggie toothpaste to your finger if you want. You can buy a finger brush or a toothbrush that looks more like a people toothbrush.
