i know you have an aussie, but, how active, how old, how much does the dog weigh, any other conditions, etc?
what were the symptoms, and what has your dog been doing the past fwe days, or specifically when he hurt his neck? without other info, all i can say is i agree with your vet, keep him VERy quiet - no running, romping, etc. and give the meds. |

You might want to try a heat pad and ice packs, alternating every 1/2 hour. That is what I was told to do by my doctor when I pinched a nerve in my back. Check with your vet first though. There may be reasons why the vet may not want you to try that.

He's 2 years old, and I'm unsure of exactly what caused it, he's always very active, he weighs about 70lbs, he's a healthy sized dog... he's got a lot of muscle... he just looks big because of his poofy hair. I think he hurt it about two weeks ago, the best I can come up with is that he may have hyper extended it or streached it out while running around and playing with other dogs... all he ever did was whimper when he got up from lying down, and started laying down to eat.
I finally said enough is enough and took him to the vet. |
