Dante's Stressed

Hopefullt this is the right place, it IS mental health related...

Dante & Chloe always eat in their crates. Now Dante won't eat if we put him in there like normal.

While we were in the hospital he didn't eat from Friday am to Sunday night! We had him taken to the e-vet so they could watch him.

Now that he's home, he will only eat if we feed him in the same room as us.

Poor dog is so sensitive! He was a mess, his cut up his nose rubbing it on his crate (he was only in there at night, during the day my in-laws had him).

He also whines in his crate now, we went to bed last night and he whined for a minute or so, which he hasn't done since he was 4 months old!

I know he is probably stressed with the new baby here. So what can we do to help him overcome it?

We've not been lacking in attention. We allow him to sniff & lick Davey. We still hug & kiss him, tell him he's a good boy. I really don't think that between the 2 of us he is getting MUCH less attention than he used to.

I just feel so bad for my "first kid". I don't want him to be unhappy.

Aw, poor Dante! I'm sure it's normal for him to feel some stress and with time things should be better. I didn't have a dog when my son was born but did have cats and I felt the same way with them. It's amazing how things seem to fall in place as time went by. Maybe someone esle would have better advice.

It will just take Dante some time to adjust to this new situation, just like it takes us a bit to get a new plan in place. I would just continue with what you already are doing and he should come around soon.
