I think some dogs coats are just like our hair. It changes color as they
grow up. When I was young my hair was almost white, now my hair is dark blond. My sister-in-law has a mini dachshund that was dark brown as a pup but now has a light red coat with a dark brown stripe down the back. It changed color as the pup grew up. |

Have you changed the food in the past? What food are you feeding? I know with my Schnauzers their coat color changes w/age and also when I start to clipper their coat instead of hand stripping it!

Sometimes coat color changes with age. If you've ever clipped your dog's coat, that could be the reason as well.
i don't see why there would be reason for concern, it's just something that happens as dogs age. Buster used to be a nice golden color as well, and he's completely white now. ![]() |

I know a chocolate lab who swims in the Atlantic and the salt water has really faded his coat. Also, it could be the summer sun, a change in diet, medication, it could be any number of things. But as was mentioned maybe it's just that a dog's coat will change colour over the years, like ours can.

have you recently "shaved" him or gotten a really short hair cut? Dogs with LONG hair if they are shaved have a chance of losing their texture and color. Ive never had a Golden but I know with my Sammy or my parents Husky that shaving them can change things drasticly...once they are "elderly" that doesnt happen as much cuz things are changing anyways

Yes, my goldern is outdoors alot, and goes to the beach 3-4 times a week. This can be one of the reasons
And I also notice my Black tri Aussie's coat turn brownish too It must be the sun ! |
