Fleas

has anyone had problems with fleas this summer?? i have my kids on frontline and i'll even use the frontline spray on them if i see fleas on them, but i don't feel like i'm kicking this problem. my basset and my golden scratch all the time, i've been giving them benadryl also to help with the itchiness. i've bombed my house, sprayed my yard.. any other suggestions that i may have missed.
it's the dang midwest i'm telling you.. i moved here from colorado, now i have HUMIDITY !!!

I'm in flea-free Nevada, don't know what to tell ya. I'm sure someone will have a good bit of info for ya, that sounds maddening. I remember a really BAD flea problem when i spent a summer in Missouri when I was a teenager. nasty.

weve done good on fleas here this summer....a lot of local dogs have them I guess (my mother goes on home visits and sees lot of dogs...and people and talks about fleas all the time) but weve been good here. Kino is on Setinol for heartworms and fleas....and every time I catch him itching I inspect him, havent found any yet....

what your doing sounds like about all you can do...

My 2 dogs are on frontline plus. Apart from 2 or 3 ticks occasionally, they are good. I found no fleas. Where I live, ticks are problems

I'm in the midwest and this is the first year ever that we haven't had any fleas! But in years past, we've had nightmare years!

Best advice for you: vacuum, vacuum, vacuum. Pull out the cracks/crevice device and get by all floor boards, move your furniture out and vacuum under them, and vacuum the furniture. Then wash all the bedding.

I asked an exterminator about them one time when it was really bad. He said save your money on bombs and sprays and simply vacuum more.

But keep your dogs on Frontline or Advantage in the meantime so they bring less into the house.

Good luck - I know how maddening they are!!

Boone got into a little mess of fleas this past weekend. I've vaccumed like crazy and gave him another dose of Frontline. I was planning on going to the store to get some flea spray or bomb tonight but a co-worker just told me just sprinkle salt on the carpet. That it dries up the the flea eggs. Has anyone else heard about this?
