Cold?
My concern is with Walter. It seems as though he has a cough. Now could this be just a cold? and if it is a cold should I take him to the vet? Will they give him medicine or will the just say "he will get over it like humans do" His stool doesn't seem to be any different. and other wise he acts just fine. He is just coughing a lot. It has turned colder here in Indiana so could it be do to that?

Hopefully it isn't kennel cough, or something stuck in his throat. I also hear there is some virus going around making dogs sick. My two just got over a bought with diarrhea and three of my friends dogs were either throwing up or had diarrhea or both. None of these dogs were together, or in any park or yard other than their own for about a month now. I've even talked to people who live on the east coast who are having the same problems. I just don't know what could be going around, but thankfully it only lasts around 3 days. If Walter shows no signs of getting better after two or three days I would get him checked at the Vet.

I agree. You should make an appointment with your vet. It's not a cold because dogs don't get colds, but they do get canine influenza which is what Calgal referred to. It's highly contagious. Has your dog been boarded or around unfamiliar dogs recently?

I agree with everything that has already been said, take him in so they can get him started on meds and get rid of that nasty cough. Let us know what the vet has to say and best wishes for a quick recovery!

I think a vet would be your best bet right now. Better to be safe then sorry.
