These Natural foods give my dog gas!Pew!

Okay I have been wanting to switch my dogs food from Biljac to something with better ingredients but one problem, everything I have been trying has been giving him gas. Solid gold, Natural balance, Nutro natural so I keep going back to biljac. I can't stand it he stinks and his stool has not been consistent even before I switched. Any suggestions?

Innova, Canidae, California Natural. These foods may be too rich which may be why you are getting the excessive gas. How long do you allow the dog to be on a new food? It may just take the digestive tract a bit to adjust to the need food. I would try one of them for at least a month to two months time before giving up.

My dogs was really gassy on Innova... very rich. I have never tried Solid gold, but I have been told that it is also rich. WEllness has worked for me. I have also use Artemis and Nature's Variety with great results!

Some people think it is the wheat or the pearled barley ingredients in the couple of foods I mentioned. I have had him on the Natural Balance mixed with the biljac for about 3-4 weeks and the gas is horrid. It isn't consistent gas but sporadic and I am just thinking if the biljac is okay then I should leave him. Biljac is a premium food and the first ingredient is chicken. The breeder had him on it so I have been trying to decide on something a little better. With all the choices it is very hard.

Biljac is NOT a premium food by any stretch of the imagination.
There might be something in Natural Balance that your dog doesn't tolerate. Have you tried California Natural? It's made by the same company that makes Innova and is supposed to be good for dogs with food intolerances. I hope you find a food that works for you. Have you checked out
