False pregnacy
Help! Does anyone know why dogs go into a false pregnacy? My dog is going to be three years old and everytime she goes into heat, a few weeks later she goes into a false pregnacy. The very first time she got sick, I took her tp the vet and he gave her a shot and antibiotic pills. She hasn't been sick this time, just looks like she is swollen with milk. Do they eventually stop going into a false pregnacy?

Usually, a dog that continues to go into a false pregnancy is a dog with hormone problems and it really isn't something in my opinion thats healthy for your dog. Along with the rise and fall of hormones come many changes within the body, some of these changes can actually cause a greater risk for things such as pyometra and mammary cancer.
My best advice is to have your dog spayed before this turns into a more serious issue. |
